Privacy policy

Our handling of personal data Swedish Cultural Heritage protects personal integrity and always strives for a high level of data protection. For example, we do not pass on information from our mailing registers. This privacy policy explains how we collect and use any personal information. It also describes your rights based on the Data Protection Act.

Welcome to Svenskt Kulturarv. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy describes our privacy practices, the personal information we collect, how we use and share it, as well as your choices and rights regarding this information.    

This Privacy Policy applies to our Services wherever we provide them, and we will comply with local laws in relation to all practices described in this policy.  If there is an inconsistency between this policy and the local law, we will comply with the local law to the extent of the inconsistency. 

This policy applies to all Svenskt Kulturarv users, including users of our website, svensktkulturarv.se/ (“Website”), any of the Svenskt Kulturarvs mobile applications (“Apps”), and any services we provide through the Website or Apps, as well as when you contact us via telephone, email, written correspondence, social media, in-person, or any other means of contact (collectively, “Services”). This policy does not cover how we handle information that we collect about our employees or business associates, including our corporate partners, vendors, and subcontractors, but does apply to our Customers. 

In this policy, individuals who utilize our Services are referred to as “Users.” Capitalized terms that are not defined in this policy have the meaning given to them in the Terms of Use.  If you accept the Terms of Use you agree to us dealing with your information in the way described in this policy. 

  

What information we collect 

We collect three categories of information about you: information you provide, information we collect automatically, and information we obtain from other sources. 

We do not collect or process information about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions or membership of any political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, genetic data, biometric data, or data concerning a person’s sex life. 
  

Information you provide 

Registration and profile information, such as your name, phone number and email. 

Information in correspondence you send to us, which may include chat messages, emails, and recordings of phone calls you make to us. 
  

Information we collect automatically 

Location informationWe collect Users’ location data to enable a map of the nearest exhibition. We collect location information (including GPS coordinates and WiFi data) based on your App settings, and device permissions: 

-  Users: We collect your device’s precise location when the App is running in the foreground (App open and on-screen) and when the App is running in the background (App open but not on-screen) from the time you open the app. Users may use the App without enabling it to collect precise location data from their mobile devices. The app will not be able to show the distance to an exhibition in this case. 

Transaction information. We collect transaction information related to the use of our Services, including the type of Services requested or provided, order details, payment transaction information, date and time the service was provided, the amount charged and payment method. 

Usage information. We collect data about your use of our Services. This may include such data as access dates and times, App features or pages viewed, App or Website crashes and other system activity. 

Device information. We collect information about the device you use to access the Services, such as your device name, brand and model, user agent, IP address, mobile carrier, network type, time zone settings, language settings, advertising identifiers, browser type, operating system and its version, screen parameters. 

Cookies, Analytics, and Third-Party Technologies. We collect information through the use of cookies, pixels, tags and other similar tracking technologies (“Cookies”). Cookies are small text files that web servers place on your device. They automatically collect information, measure and analyze how you use websites and applications, and identify which web pages and ads you click on. The information we obtain through cookies helps us improve your Svenskt Kulturarv experience (for example, by saving your preferences) and our marketing programs. You can delete cookies and manage cookie settings in your web browser settings. 
  

Information we obtain from other sources 

Third-party services. We may receive information about Users from our service providers, which include background checks and identity verification providers and financial services vendors. 

State authorities. We may receive information about Users from law enforcement agencies and other government authorities as part of a law enforcement request, during legal proceedings, or as required or authorized by law. 

Other Users or third parties. Sometimes Users or others may provide us with information about you, including through user support or in connection with claims or disputes.  We will only keep and use this information if we could have lawfully collected it from you.  We will also take such steps (if any) as reasonable in the circumstances to let you know we have collected this information. 

  

How we use your information 

We use the personal information we collect: 

1. To enable you to use our Services 

-  create and maintain your membership card, settings, and preferences; 

-  verify your identity; 

-  enable services as may be the case; 

-  provide user support; 

-  send non-marketing communications about the Service; 

-  maintain accessibility, safety and stability of our App and websites, diagnose, prevent and resolve technical and service problems; 

-  comply with regulatory requirements related to our Services and your use of our Services. 

2. To maintain and enhance the safety and security of our Services and their Users 

-  prevent, detect and combat fraud, unsafe or unlawful behaviour, and violations of our policies and rules; 

-  protect personal information, rights and legitimate interests of our Users; 

3. To improve existing and develop new features and products 

-  perform testing, research, analysis, development and machine learning to improve your user experience; 

-  collect feedback regarding your Svenskt Kulturarv experience; 

-  develop new products, features and services. 

4. To promote Svenskt Kulturarv and our Services 

-  send you marketing emails; 

5. To comply with legal requirements. We may use your personal information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, licenses, and industry standards and as part of legal proceedings and in response to law enforcement requests and as otherwise authorized or required by law. 

  

How we share your information 

We know how important it is to keep your personal information confidential. In this section, we describe when and with whom we may share the information that we collect. 
 

With service providers 

We may share your personal information with our service providers for business purposes, including: 

-  payment processing and transaction fulfilment; 

-  user and technical support; 

-  content delivery; 

-  consultants, lawyers, accountants, auditors, and other professional services; 

-  Google, in connection with the use of Google Maps in our Services (see Google’s privacy policy for information on their collection and use of data); 
  

In connection with a business transfer 

We may transfer personal information we collect in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as a restructuring, merger, consolidation or asset sale, in which personal information is among the assets to be transferred. We will use our best endeavours to ensure that any recipient to whom we transfer your information will hold and use that information in accordance with this policy. 
  

For legal reasons 

We may disclose your personal information when it is necessary: 

-  to comply with legal requirements, such as responding to subpoenas, court orders, law enforcement requests, legal claims, or government inquiries; 

-  to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of Svenskt Kulturarv, our Users, or the public. 
  

With your consent 

We may share your personal information for other purposes pursuant to your consent or at your direction. 
  

Your rights and choices 

Accessing and updating your information. You may access, review and update certain information you have chosen to provide to us by contacting user support at info@svensktkulturarv.se. 

Sharing location information. Your device may have controls that determine what information we collect or how we can use that information. For example, you can prevent your device from sharing location information through your device’s system settings. This will, however, impact our ability to provide you with the full range of Services. 

Managing cookies. You can delete cookies and modify your cookie settings on your browser. You may need to manage cookies separately for each type of browser or device. If you choose to refuse, disable, or delete cookies, we may not be able to provide you with all of the requested Services. 

Do Not Track. Some browsers transmit “do-not-track” signals to websites. Because of differences in how browsers incorporate and activate this feature, we currently do not take action in response to these signals. 

Deleting your information and data. You can request the deletion of your information or your data by contacting user support at info@svensktkulturarv.se. You may be asked to verify your identity. In some cases, we will be unable to delete your information or may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes, such as to complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, detect cybersecurity threats, debug or repair our Services, enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with the context for which the personal information was provided, prevent fraud, comply with legal or regulatory obligations, or to manage any claims in relation to the Services. When we retain such data, we do so in ways designed to prevent its use for other purposes. 

Asking us questions or raising a complaint. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this policy or about how we treat your information, or if you wish to make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information. Datainspektionen 
Datainspektionen is responsible for monitoring the application of the legislation. Anyone who believes that personal data has been handled in an incorrect manner can submit a complaint to the Data Inspectorate. If a personal data incident occurs, we are obliged to report it to the Swedish Data Protection Authority. An incident is an event that leads to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss or alteration of your personal data. It can also be if the incident leads to unauthorized disclosure of or unauthorized access to the processed personal data. The incident must be reported to the Data Inspectorate within 72 hours from the time it was discovered. 

  

How we store your information 

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide you with our Services and for the other purposes set out in this policy. 

The retention periods will be different depending on the type of information, the category of User to whom the information relates, and the purposes for which we use it. 

When we process your information to provide you with the Service, we keep this information for as long as you have and are using our Services. We may retain User information after usage has stopped due to legal or regulatory requirements or for reasons stated in this policy, including as explained in the section titled “Deleting your account and data. We retain transactional information, such as payments for the period of time necessary to perform tax obligations. We also retain information for the purpose of responding to any legal claims in relation to the Services.

How we protect your information 

We take reasonable and appropriate technical, administrative, and physical security measures appropriate to the nature of the personal information at issue, designed to protect your personal information from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. 

We regularly review our security measures to consider available new technology and methods. But guaranteed security does not exist either on or off the Internet. We cannot guarantee the security of your information, including against unauthorized intrusions or acts by third parties. However, we make commercially reasonable efforts to make the collection and security of such information consistent with this policy and all applicable laws and regulations. 

  

General disclosures 

Protecting Children. Our Services are for adults and are not directed to children. Should an individual whom we know to be a child under the age of 18 send personal information to us, we will use reasonable endeavours to ensure we do not further use or disclose that information and delete this data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@svensktkulturarv.se 

  

Third-party collections 

Certain third parties may use automatic information collection technologies, including cross-site tracking technologies, to collect personal information about you or your device. These third parties may include, but are not limited to, your internet service provider, your web browser, your mobile service provider, your mobile device manufacturer, online advertisers, and data analytics companies. 

Additionally, our App and Website may contain links to third-party websites and to our social network accounts. Clicking on any such links means that the respective website or social network may receive information on from which website you accessed the platform and may collect other personal information. It is also possible if you are currently logged in as a user to a social network, that the social network will link this information to any account you have with the social network. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of these other platforms before clicking on any links on our App or Website. 

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. We do not control any of these third parties or how they collect, use, or disclose your personal information. This policy is not applicable to third-party collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information. If you have any questions about the privacy practices of any third party, you should contact the responsible third party directly. 

  

Changes 

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect the changes in laws or in how we provide our Services. When we update the Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and by posting the new Privacy Policy and providing any other notice required by applicable law. We encourage you to periodically review this page to stay informed of our privacy practices.
